the doctor who wiki is the deepest and darkest rabbit hole of any fan wiki and is so overlooked in terms of how much of a mess it is so i’m here to enlighten all of you. I can’t stop thinking about it.

it’s thesis is to categorize everything, every object and animal and slang term and color that has ever been mentioned in doctor who and all related media from 1963-present (with the exception of lgbt characters, removed for their supposed non relevance) into nearly 70,000 pages. 90% of it is just lists of things that exist in real life, and have jack shit to do with anything, like the color brown:

(I like this page especially because it can only think of 3 individuals with brown eyes in the entire span of this show that’s been on for like 60 years, two of which are side characters who appear once in the lowest rated episode of the entire show and never again)

and all of this is put into very bizarre categories like ‘emotions from the real world’ and ‘vegetables from the real world’ and these just get increasingly horrific until there’s categories for stuff like sexual abuse and execution methods. there’s a page just titled ‘masturbation’ with a list of every time anyone in dr. who has jacked off, so thoughtfully put in the porn and erotica section of the doctor who wiki:

sometimes you find a page with pages linked but missing implying their existence and later deletion, usually extremely godawful and wildly inappropriate for the dr who wiki, like a page for “abortion” being linked on the page for the word feminazi (??????????)

image

all the pages they put into these categories are a trip and really

illustrate how wildly it’s all strung together,

like ‘psychology from the real world’, with a lot of it not being something i’d categorize as psychology and only one or two things that probably should be on the dr who wiki and with all of it listing (cited) every instance or mention of whatever, like fire or being punched, in dr who:

and despite the fact that they manage to list every item in the world on this wiki a godawful amount of the actual episode descriptions are missing. The Chimes of Midnight, probably the most popular audio story and over 15 years old now, has a page thats just the summary from the website and nothing else:

image

some of them (ex. Lungbarrow) are especially weird, with just a blurb for the actual summary and then a mile long trivia section. most stories that weren’t on tv (and some that were) are like this when they have a plot description at all

basically if you want to know about ferrero rocher, squidward, condoms or piss and every instance of that in dr who you’re in luck but if you want to know something about an episode of dr who on the dr who wiki get fucked i guess.

it continues forever and the best thing i can say about it is that this year they removed the page that was just the n word

#why is it all in past tense #or did the doctor destroy wanking and fire in the eps i haven’t seen yet

its because its written from the end of the universe and nothing can whack off if the stars have burned out of the sky and all species in the universe and beyond have succumbed to the rot of time!

this is also why they don’t have a category for lgbt characters even though it’s clearly more relevant than like, candy or colors:

(We write articles in the past tense from an ‘end of the universe’ POV. The Category:LGBT individuals, makes no sense for me as it’s a very 20th to early 21st century view point. Beyond the 20th and before the 20th it’s never really made an issue of, DW universe wise. By Benny’s time (26th century) it’s not even a thing, Jason Kane (who was from the 1980s) has shagged everything male, female and alien. In Chris Cwej and Roz Forrester’s time (30th century) again not a thing, and the fast forward to the 51st century and we’ve got Captain-shag anything-Jack. If the concept of LGBT existed in the DW universe we’d have a page for it, and we don’t, cause it’s really not something that’s given a lot of thought as a defined concept.)

it looks like it’s being consistently managed:
